The cross on the back wall. The main part and support of the cross is made of oak, the strength of which is to remind us of God the Father and also that the cross was prepared by the Father for Jesus from the beginning of time. (Con’t) Deacons John Ball . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 410-8168 Scott Bowman . . . . . . . 936-718-6182 Jerry Lawson . . . . . . . . 405-788-1317 John Mixer . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 410-2365 George Wyatt . . . . . . . . . . . . 587-7671 Running down the center of the upright and cross-members are narrow pieces of cherry which, over time, have darkened to a deep red. This is to remind us of Christ’s blood which was shed for you and me. It might be well if we never look on any cross without seeing the bloodstains of our Savior. The cross is surrounded by maple which is almost white. This is to look like light shining around the cross. That light represents the Holy Spirit and the fact that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross brought about a new age in which God’s Spirit would be alive and active in every believer. When you look at this cross, or any other one, we hope you remember God’s perfect love as revealed by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
